The French ESA astronaut, launched on 13 February with Crew-12, is ending a mission of almost eight months that set the record for the longest single spaceflight by a European, with three spacewalks totalling 19 h 42 min. She is expected in Cologne on 7–8 October for recovery at ESA’s astronaut centre and DLR’s :envihab. Our take: months-long stays like this are the rehearsal for how Europeans will live on future stations.
